Resumen
Este estudio examina si el acceso a infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones de nueva generación, como el 5G, puede mitigar los efectos adversos de la despoblación sobre el rendimiento de pymes ubicadas en áreas rurales. La adopción de tecnologías digitales asociadas con la Industria 4.0, incluidas la analítica de big data, la computación en la nube y la inteligencia artificial, permite a las empresas optimizar procesos, mejorar su competitividad y, en última instancia, aumentar su rentabilidad. Sin embargo, la despoblación puede obstaculizar la transformación digital al limitar el acceso a infraestructuras de telecomunicaciones adecuadas en las zonas rurales. En este contexto, el estudio ofrece una nueva perspectiva sobre cómo las condiciones del entorno y los recursos locales configuran la actividad económica. Mediante un análisis cuantitativo, los resultados muestran que la conectividad avanzada no constituye únicamente una mejora técnica, sino un factor crítico capaz de compensar los efectos adversos de la despoblación sobre el rendimiento empresarial. Estos hallazgos aportan información relevante sobre la resiliencia de las pymes rurales y ofrecen una base estratégica para el diseño de políticas de desarrollo en territorios afectados por la despoblación.Referencias
