El efecto de las aceleradoras de empresas sobre la financiación regional mediante capital riesgo en el Reino Unido

Resumen

Durante los últimos veinte años, numerosos gobiernos locales de distintos países han creado aceleradoras e incubadoras para financiar empresas emergentes y contribuir a transformar sus economías locales. Sin embargo, existe evidencia limitada sobre el impacto de estos programas en la disponibilidad y oferta de capital riesgo en fases semilla e iniciales en sus regiones. Este estudio examina los efectos de las aceleradoras de empresas sobre la financiación total mediante capital riesgo en las Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEP) del Reino Unido entre 1998 y 2016. Se emplearon múltiples métodos para abordar los problemas de causalidad inversa. Los resultados sugieren que las aceleradoras tienen un impacto mínimo o insignificante sobre la inversión regional de capital riesgo, especialmente en áreas territoriales amplias como las LEP. Asimismo, los resultados respaldan la idea de que las características regionales moderan la relación entre el capital riesgo y el establecimiento de aceleradoras.
